Does God really care about your body or does he really care about your soul?
I mean, when we die, our bodies will go six feet under and rot. God won’t take the body with him. So why do some religions believe that changing your body in any shape or form (tattoo, breast augmentation, collagen, etc) is a sin when it’s the soul that needs to be clean of impurity?
And…
If a fellow Christian woman suffers from obesity and decides one day to get her but off the couch and do something about it, she works out, eats healthy and loses weight. Her skin starts to sag but she is young and would like to look healthy and young so she goes to a doctor and they suggest surgery but they also suggest breast implants (to help perk her up) and in between other things to help her look like the beautiful young woman that she is. Would you say that she is wrong? Should she have stayed with her sagging skin to keep her body pure just for God?
I mean, someone did say that changing your body is against what God thinks is right then; would she be wrong for doing so?
I know that some faiths are against organ donation because they believe when the messiah comes everyone (the righteous) will be resurrected. The reason for the prohibition is that your not going to be able to be resurrected without your organs.
Imo, the woman is not "wrong" and can and should do whatever makes her happy (But, I would prefer natural and saggy to synthetic implants any day of the week.). Again, it terms of how a person looks...I just don't think (and I know and respect that others will disagree with me) that it's a consideration for a being that is omnipotent and omnibenevolent (e.g. why would an all powerful being be concerned about whether people are perky or not?).
It's interesting the different views though (my view is whatever floats someones boat). My mother used to say when asked why she did not dye her grey hair: "Because this is how G-d made me".
