Unclog Those Pores- Oily Skin Care

Maybe it only happens every once in a while, or maybe it happens to you every day- whatever the frequency, it can seem sometimes like your sebaceous glands are out to get you by producing more oil than seems normal. Oil doesn't damage your skin, in fact, it protects it. It helps to shed dead skin and keep the new skin healthy.

 

Even though dry skin ages more quickly than oily skin, there are definite downsides if you don't have proper oily skin care. The glands produce more oil during adolescence, and oily skin catches the acne-causing dirt and bacteria in the air more easily. That's why it's important to take advantage of the oily skincare products available to try to combat the unwanted effects of oily skin.

 

Don't use harsh products -- they will only aggravate your skin and dry it out, making it produce even more oil to compensate. Oily skin can be sensitive, so start off by washing your face with a gentle cleanser and warm (not hot or cold) water. Rinse with cooler water, and try to avoid makeup, which can get bacteria into the pores and cause acne. If you must, use non-oil based formulas.

 

It's important with oily skin care that you don't sleep with your makeup on, or use heavy creams, which can clog your pores as well. Drink extra water to make sure your skin is hydrated, so that it's not as thirsty and doesn't produce as much oil. Up the ante on your fruit intake; placing fruit acid on your skin will keep it moisturized but remove the uppermost layer, and eating a lot of fruits will do the same.

Benzoyl Peroxide sloughs off dead skin from the follicle and cleans your skin of bacteria, keeping your pores clear and helping you avid acne. Many scents such as tea tree, cedarwood, and lavendar contain healing and preventative agents. Other scents to try are geranium, ylang-ylang, jojoba, grapeseed, sandalwood, or clary sage. Exercise is also great for your skin. Sweat is a natural cleanser, so make sure you've got a regular exercise schedule.

 

There are many options for oily skin care and many types of oily skin, so be sure to try mixing and matching treatments to find the routine that works best for you. Try the natural remedies first, because often they benefit other areas of health as well. If you need to use oily skincare products, be sure to choose the ones that will be the most gentle on your skin, and use them in conjunction with a natural remedy.
